While the Knowles Station is of Gothic Revival and designed by eminent B&O Railroad architect Ephraim Francis Baldwin, there is much in the way of Mid Century Modern to be found in Kensington, especially this "Googie" Gasoline and Auto Services Building.The Kensington Shopping Center, with it's new brick and stone facade, sports a Streamline Moderne aesthetic.
I really like what has been done to the Kensington Shopping Center, with it's re-purposing of the corner retail space as a Chipotle. Chipotle's sleek design and graphics compliment the Shopping Center design and neon signage well.
But the most handsome redesign of all is that of re-interpretation of the Mid Century Modern "Marina" style Safeway Store...
