Plank Seat Baltimore Chair Strip and Finish
Antiques, Collectibles and Curiosities Gallery
I really like the way this chair cleaned up, it was worth the effort. I suspect that this chair was left unpainted, and inherited these various coats of paint over time. I attempted to return the chair to it's original unpainted finish, but to do so would remove too much material, as the wood had deteriorated and the paints had impregnated the fibers. I opted for a minimal coat, leaving the stiles and especially these two turned decorative legs, natural.
The legs demonstrate a handsome rake.
The splat is a modern replacement
Three different shades of green paint are apparent, and this new finish coat rounds the count up to four.
